Below are my top five tips for growing and maintaining your edges(hairline).
1.avoid hair styles that tag on your edges.
stay away from hair styles that pull on your edges like micro braids,masai twists etc.however,if you do choose to wear those hair styles,ensure that you instruct your hair dresser to leave your edges out.And also do not wear such hairstyles frequently.
2.avoid wearing full wigs for prolonged periods of time.
I have a personal experience with this one.As a form of protective styling,i almost always wore full wigs for work last year and it took a toll on my edges.I noticed that my hairline got lighter.so to avoid losing my edges completely,i decided to stop wearing wigs frequently and instead wear my hair out more often.
3.make jamaican black castor oil(jbco) your best friend.
ya you heard right!!make jbco your best friend if you want those edges back.this oil has been known to stimulate hair follicles,which subsequently stimulates hair growth.
massage your edges with jbco daily.

4.invest in a good edge treatment.
There  are hairline treatments on the market that you can try out and see how they work for you.I have not personally tried them so if you do try them,please do share with us.examples of these edge treatments include:shea moisture jbco edge treament,ORS fertilizing serum,ORS temple balm etc.


5.essential oils.
Essential oils like tea tree oil,peppermint oil,rosemary oil etc have been known to increase blood flow to the scalp therefore,promoting hair growth.However,you can not use these oils as is so you will need to mix them with a carrier oil like coconut oil,grapeseed oil,olive oil etc.massage your edges daily with this oil.

Remember!overrall hair health will also help you in growing and maintaining your edges.ensure you include your edges in all your hair treatments like deep conditioning,moisturising,protein treatments etc.
Also remember to massage your edges frequently with oils and/or treatments listed above daily.Because you will be massaging with oils,always ensure you keep your edges clean otherwise the buildup from the oils will clog your pores and your edges wont grow at all.
